Baby boomers join online businesses in droves

Having a system is the key to a lucrative home based business opportunity

As more companies adjust to the current economic environment, not only are they laying off but they are changing the terms of their pension plans.

Baby boomers facing retirement are now faced with a double whammy.  Their company pensions are now gone and the value of any outside investments that they may have had have plummeted.  To say that many are nervous about retirement is an understatement.

Many with very little time to go until their "so-called" golden years now realize that they will not be able to retire and enjoy life.  For that reason, many are joining online businesses in droves.

Whether it is part-time, post-retirement, pre-retirement or whatever, to succeed online you need a system. If your goal is to replace the income that you lost in your 401K, it can be done with some sweat equity but it requires a system if you are to work smart, and not hard.

Any system that has a goal of taking full advantage of the sea of people on the internet begins with marketing no matter what the product is.

Marketing

Any business owner knows that without marketing, he is dead in the water.  The problem that most new online business owners have is that internet marketing is so different than what they are traditionally used to, it can be tremendously confusing.

To begin marketing professionally on the internet, you must begin with real estate.  Just like the traditional brick and mortar business must have real estate, you must too.  Your real estate on the internet is your domain name.

Try to pick a domain name that is catchy, or in the case of some people, they are able to use their names as their domain name.  You must register your domain so that it will become active.  One of the largest domain registrars is Go Daddy.  There you can register for as little as $10 per year for a .com address.

On your newly acquired real estate (your domain name), you must now put up some kind of display to attract visitors.  This is called a "capture page".  It is simply a sales page that is designed to interest people in your product so that they will either buy or indicate that they want more information on your product.

The next thing you need is traffic.  Any good store front will be in a location that has lots of traffic.  The internet is not much different, except that you will drive traffic to your website.  One method of driving that traffice is called "Pay per Click".

PPC is simply a system of advertising that only charges you when your prospects click on an ad.  One very large system is run by Google, called Adwords.  One problem you may face with that system is that some keywords have become so competative, that it has gotten very expensive to advertise there.

Another system that works well is banner ads.  There are very large banner networks that will show your ads across hundred of websites.  Some are PPC and some are CPM.  CPM or Cost per Mille (thousands) is simply a system that charges per number of "eyeballs" that actually view your ads, not clicks.

To summarize, with any online product that you want to market, be sure that the system starts with the marketing.  A professional marketing system will put you in front of the right people.  You won't have to pitch your products to any friends, relatives, or co-workers  with a the right professional marketing system.

Without a professional marketing system you are just spinning your wheels and won't reach your goal of replacing your 401k.
